How to order Repeat Prescriptions
The best way to order your repeat prescriptions is through your NHS Account on the NHS App and NHS Online
To do this you will need to ensure that you are fully registered with the surgery and have had the prescription previously signed-off for repeat usage.
To use an NHS account , you need to have an NHS login
When logged into the NHS App, you can select the ‘order repeat prescription’ button.

Getting started
You can easily choose where your prescriptions are sent and order at a time that suits you with the NHS App.
First, you will need to download and register on the app. Ask a member of your GP surgery's team for the 'Getting started with the NHS App' leaflet or visit: nhs.uk/helpmeapp
Ordering repeat prescriptions
Once you have logged into the app:
- Select the 'Prescriptions' icon in the bar at the bottom of the screen.
- Choose which pharmacy your prescriptions will be sent to. This is called your 'nominated pharmacy'. Look at the 'Choosing your pharmacy' section of this guide to choose or change your pharmacy.
- Select the green 'Order a prescription' button at the top of the prescriptions page.
- The next page asks: 'What type of prescription do you want to order?' You can only order repeat prescription items on the NHS App. So, if you have one, choose 'A repeat prescription' and select 'Continue'.
- Check the prescription is going to the right pharmacy. If not, look at the 'Choosing your pharmacy' section of this guide. If the pharmacy is the right one, select 'Continue'.
- The next screen shows the medicines available for you to request. Choose the medicines you need and select 'Continue'.
- Check your order and nominated pharmacy are correct. Then select 'Confirm and order prescriptions' .
- You are finished. Your request is sent to the GP surgery for approval and then sent to your nominated pharmacy for collection.

Choosing your pharmacy
The pharmacy you choose your prescriptions to be sent to is called your 'nominated pharmacy'. Here's how to change it
- Select the 'Prescriptions' icon at the bottom of the screen.
- Select the 'Your nominated pharmacy' option.
- Select the green 'Change your nominated pharmacy' button.
- Select 'High street pharmacies'. It is not possible to nominate an online-only pharmacy in the NHS App.
- Search using your postcode.
- Select a pharmacy. Future prescriptions will be sent to this pharmacy.
Viewing your orders
- Select the 'Prescriptions' icon at the bottom of the screen.
- Select 'View your orders'.
- Your old and current repeat prescription orders are shown in a list.

If you have any problems using the NHS App, you can:
You may be asked to nominate a pharmacy to collect a prescription from, allowing you to organise a collection or delivery from a pharmacy close to your home. It’s worth noting, not all pharmacies may be listed.
Once nominated and re-ordered, you’ll be able to collect your medicine in person when it is ready. Some pharmacies may also deliver.

Repeat Prescriptions
Repeat prescriptions may be issued in agreement with your doctor.
We do not take phone requests unless you are housebound.
Please allow 2 full working days before collecting the prescription
We can post your prescription to you if you provide us with an SAE.
Your medication should be reviewed annually, more often if the doctor recommends. You will be advised of this date. The review appointment should be separate from other queries.

As qualified healthcare professionals, they can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:

Pharmacies will also take your Blood Pressure and report this back to the surgery, it is recommended that patients purchase their own Home Blood Pressure Monitor so that if requested they can provide the information quickly.
They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.

Most pharmacies have a private room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff in private.
